Wolfnet no longer offers ISDN services. However, we will leave the definition up for reference.
What is ISDN?
ISDN delivers internet access to businesses and homes using digital telephone lines that run from a telephone company facility called a central office (CO). What transforms these copper lines into digital lines is special equipment installed at the CO and ISDN Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) at a business.
How does it work?
Normal telephone switches and standard telephone lines, while ideal voice communication, limit maximum allowable bandwidth for data transmission to 56 kbps. ISDN uses these standard telephone lines but bypasses the normal telephone switches, enabling (2) 64 kbps data channels for a combined 128 kbps connection.
ISDN works on a telephone line connected between ISDN CPE and a Digital Line Multi-plexer (DLM). The resulting end-to-end circuit provides dedicated links to the Internet, corporate local area networks (LANs), or stand-alone computers.
Types of ISDN
ISDN comes in two versions, including DEDICATED,and
PROVISIONED or Dial-Up. Wolfnet offers ISDN only on a DEDICATED
plan. This is to be sure that the Wolfnet network is not overloaded
by casual or home users. This allows us to provide unparalleled
network availability to you, the customer.
